A silent struggle is unfolding across the hills of Kororāreka.
Invasive pest plants have moved into our native bush and are threatening to smother the life out of our hillsides and valleys. Left to their own devices, these “wicked weeds” will continue to strip the land of its diversity, replacing our unique flora and fauna with a tangled, silent wasteland.
Weed Action Kororāreka is a group in Kororāreka / Russell, Bay of Islands, dedicated to the active management of these invaders and the restoration of our precious native habitats. We work alongside the Russell Landcare Trust to ensure our native bush doesn’t just survive, but thrives.
